This, courtesy of a column in the Washington Post sums it – and him – up.
“Obama warned the General Assembly on Tuesday that “the danger for the world is that the United States, after a decade of war . . . may disengage, creating a vacuum of leadership that no other nation can fill.” Sadly, it is not just a danger. It was the message of his speech — and the tangible result of his presidency.”
Worse (as a US resident), the populace of the US is disengaging from its broader self, locking themselves in gerrymandered districts and towns to try for some sort of control over education, taxes or lifestyle and to raise those priorities above their perceived countrywide norm. The net result is a polarized congressional situation which we can only hope is not a model for the rest of the worlds nations.
